Created specifically for the call-out ‘If trees were lone women what would they sound like’ from the Lone Women in Flashes of Wilderness project, founded and run by Scottish writer and artist Clare Archibald.

As part of Sanctuary Lab 2021, a sound and performance installation deep in the Galloway Forest. For 24 hours only visitors will be able to track and trace the individual and collective voices of the 'lone women wood'.

Mixed with live drums and electronics by Eva in Glasgow a day later.

Created September 5th 2021
for installation projection on weekend of 26th September.

Throughout the walk, I constantly saw and imagined people and creatures that were in the woods. Maybe still are. Irrational fear and hallucinations are odd bed fellows.

And i'm not sure if some of those fears were due to the imprint of a lifetime of film and myth. You begin self-conscious, but then you sweat it out, you get a break, you keep on, the woods are for all of us.
